Happy New Year

by Ric on January 6, 2019

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year.

It was a very fun first three days back at school last week as the children all seemed to be so very happy to be back with their friends at Busy Bee. Tomorrow starts our first full week of school in 2019 and the teachers are looking forward to looks of fun and exciting activities that will be taking place in class.

Gym Classes begin this week at school. Thank you to everyone that has registered their child for the Winter Session of gym. Please email me our let your child’s teacher know if you would like your child to join a class for the upcoming session.

Some new things that are now taking place is class is the children signing in each day when they arrive at school. After four months of fine motor development, letter recognition activities and talking about the letters in our name…. it is time to take all of these skills to another level.
The children will also be working on January portraits of themselves and will begin working on a special name snowman as well.

This week will also be Letter J week at school. J is for January!!

The Busy Bee Library will be starting up again this week. I feel that the library has been a huge success so far this year. The classes will be doing more and more special literacy activities with the children over the next few months and having children borrow books is all part of creating life long lovers of reading. We will also be adding new titles to the library as well.
This week Miss Sue’s Class and Mr. Ric’s afternoon class will be visiting the library on Wednesday.
Families are welcome to join us for story time at 11:10 in the morning or 2:40 in the afternoon.

Thank you all and I look forward to a fun week of school.

Mr. Ric

A great start to our new year!!!!

by Ric on September 16, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a nice weekend and are looking forward to an almost full week of school. The whole staff is very excited about how well all the classes are doing after the first five days. This week the goal is to continue to build on our success of the first few days and continue to build on the social dynamic that is forming in our classrooms. The children have all been creating bee’s that will be part of our ‘Bee Kind’ mural that will be taking shape over the course of the week.

There is a major focus also on your child’s gross motor development at Busy Bee. It looks like the weather will cooperate with us this week and our plan is to spend a good amount of time on the playground this week. We will also be having our first ‘Dance Day with Miss Donna’ this week on Tuesday as well. Another opportunity for gross motor growth is the Busy Bee Gym Program with Miss Theresa that will begin this week.

Thank you to all the families who have signed up for gym classes, I am confident that your children will love it. Morning children who are in gym classes will be brought right to gym at 11:30 and parents can pick them up at 12:00. Afternoon children should be brought to gym at 12:00 and will be brought to their classes at 12:30 by Miss Theresa. Please just let us know if you would like your child to be a part of the gym program.

This week the classes will also begin preparing for our first trip of the year to Davies Farm on Tuesday September 25. Please return your child’s trip form so we can give the Orchards a proper headcount before we go. In preparation the children will be learning all about apples and even creating a special apple project using the letters of our names.

Please remember that school will be closed this week on Wednesday for the Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur.

Lastly, tomorrow and Tuesday will be the first day of school for the Busy Bee Toddlers. Our littlest students will be attending school from 9:15-11:15 beginning tomorrow. The entrance to their classroom is in the back of the building. Please take extra care at drop-off and dismissal time.

Thanks
Mr. Ric
