A great start to our new year!!!!

by Ric on September 16, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a nice weekend and are looking forward to an almost full week of school. The whole staff is very excited about how well all the classes are doing after the first five days. This week the goal is to continue to build on our success of the first few days and continue to build on the social dynamic that is forming in our classrooms. The children have all been creating bee’s that will be part of our ‘Bee Kind’ mural that will be taking shape over the course of the week.
There is a major focus also on your child’s gross motor development at Busy Bee. It looks like the weather will cooperate with us this week and our plan is to spend a good amount of time on the playground this week. We will also be having our first ‘Dance Day with Miss Donna’ this week on Tuesday as well. Another opportunity for gross motor growth is the Busy Bee Gym Program with Miss Theresa that will begin this week.
Thank you to all the families who have signed up for gym classes, I am confident that your children will love it. Morning children who are in gym classes will be brought right to gym at 11:30 and parents can pick them up at 12:00. Afternoon children should be brought to gym at 12:00 and will be brought to their classes at 12:30 by Miss Theresa. Please just let us know if you would like your child to be a part of the gym program.
This week the classes will also begin preparing for our first trip of the year to Davies Farm on Tuesday September 25. Please return your child’s trip form so we can give the Orchards a proper headcount before we go. In preparation the children will be learning all about apples and even creating a special apple project using the letters of our names.

Please remember that school will be closed this week on Wednesday for the Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur.

Lastly, tomorrow and Tuesday will be the first day of school for the Busy Bee Toddlers. Our littlest students will be attending school from 9:15-11:15 beginning tomorrow. The entrance to their classroom is in the back of the building. Please take extra care at drop-off and dismissal time.

Hi Families,

Hope everyone had a nice long weekend and Happy New Year to all those families who celebrate Rosh Hashanah. It was a real fun first two days of school and I hope you are excited to get back to our three day week. The goal of the next three days of school is to try and help everyone to acclimate to their new school enviornment. The classes will continue to spend a great deal of time playing and interacting with our new teachers and classmates.

We will also be creating our first class project of the year based on our theme of ‘BEE KIND’. The classes will be having discussions about being a good friend and what we can do to be kind. Tomorrow, we will also be starting snack days for some students. Your child’s snack day should be marked on your monthly class calendar that you received on the first day of school. Children who did not receive a snack day in September will be the first children to have one in October. Parent’s responsibiility for snack and other snack ideas are also detailed in the first day of school handouts.

This year at Busy Bee, when it is your snack day it will also be your child’s show and tell day. Please send in your child with one special toy, picture, item, book, or memento. During circle time your child will get the opportunity to share their special show and tell with the class.

Busy Bee Gym Classes will also begin next week on Monday, Thursday and Friday. The gym program run by Miss Theresa has become a child and parent favorite at Busy Bee. The gym program adds a half hour to your child’s day and gives them another opportunity for social, cognitive and physical growth. If you are interested in signing your child up for a gym class please return the form that was distributed on the first day of school.

Also starting next week, the classes will begin preparing for our first trip of the school year… Apple Picking at Davies Farm in New City on Tuesday September 25. All children attend school the day of the trip at their regular scheduled times (9:00 or 12:30) with a grown-up. The classes will do a little circle time presentation for the families before we carpool down Route 304 to Davies Farm. Their each child will be given a bag to fill with apples. Beginning tomorrow their will be a letter sent home with information about the Apple Picking and Pumpkin Picking Trip (Thursday October 25) to Seocr Farms.

Lastly, I would personally like to thank and welcome everyone to the Busy Bee Family. It is going to be a very fun and memorable year of school.
