“Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” Dr. Seuss

by Ric on February 26, 2017

I hope everyone had a very nice week off and is ready to get back to the fun at Busy Bee. Our last week of school was an extremely busy and exciting one.Mr. Ric valentine-day Getting to celebrate Valentine’s Day and our 100th Day of school in the same week was so much fun. The Valentine Party is always great and the 100th Day of School Treasure Hunt has quickly become one of the highlights of the school year!!!
There are still days left in February and it will be nice to get back to our daily routine before the start of March all the fun things that will be happening next month at Busy Bee. Another favorite Busy Bee celebration is Dr. Seuss’s Birthday (Thursday March 2).
100-day-1 Besides being one of the most influential of all children’s authors, Dr. Seuss is also my personal favorite. His combination of playful rhymes, fun loving stories and vividly beautiful text illustrations has lent to their impact on generations of children young and old. This week at Busy Bee, the children will be exposed to the wonders of the ‘Books of Seuss.’

We will revisiting many of Seuss’s favorite characters as we read a variety of his stories aloud. They will be engaging in language play (alliterative language, rhyming, listening activities and sound patterns) as the children recognize and match words that rhyme. A beginning mastery of these skills will help with our goal of becoming emergent readers.
One of the most recognizable images of Dr. Seuss is The Cat in the Hat. All of the classes will be using the red-white (a-b pattern) of the hat as a springboard to our math patterning unit. Our goal is for the children to duplicate and extend simple patterns using concrete object.

Some of the titles that we will be focusing on are Dr. Seuss’s ABC’s, There’s a Wocket in my Pocket, Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, and Horton Hatches the Egg, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? to name a few.

I look forward to seeing everyone and having another fun week at Busy Bee.
